CanAm's client is a major urban referral hospital in Atlantic Canada.
Position Profile: Currently, the department has a complement of two neonatologists and six pediatricians. Care includes conventional ventilation support to babies down to 24 weeks gestation, nitric oxide (NO), as well as high frequency oscillation (HFO). We also provide hypothermia “cool-cap” therapy for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. NICU coverage is also provided by 4 of the pediatricians, and on-call rotation will be 1 in 6. NICU is a recognized tertiary care service in the Province of New Brunswick.
The Hospital is a regional referral center and teaching hospital; with 3500 deliveries per year in our referral region; 18 bed NICU; 20-bed Pediatric Unit; 3-bed PICU. Options of practice include solo or group with fee for service remuneration. Note: In special circumstances a salaried model may be considered.
Remuneration: Standard remuneration is fee-for-service, which allows the physician to incorporate. However, under special circumstances, with approval from the Department of Health, a salaried model may be available at a minimum of $212,446 (bt) annually (plus benefits of vacation, sick leave, maternity/paternity, pension, dental, health, life & disability insurance, etc) based on qualifications and experience.
Certification: Canadian FRCPC or La Corporation Professionnelle des Médecins du Québec certification, preferred.
USA Board, Irish, UK, NZ, Aus, Swiss and Singapore certified candidates may be considered.

It offers tertiary services in Trauma, Neurosurgery, Burns, Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatal Care, Provincial Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Vascular Surgery, plus extensive services in elevated secondary and primary care.
The Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with Dalhousie University. The hospital is supported by 3,000 staff and physicians.
Community Profile: The city, with adjoining municipalities, has a population of more than 135,000, and was ranked as one of the best Canadian cities for quality of community life. There is easy access to warm water beaches. There is excellent availability of educational opportunities, cultural events and recreational activities in the immediate area. An international airport and central location with good road connections make more distant centers easily accessible.
