CanAm's client, a large eastern Canada tertiary care hospital is recruiting for a full-time Thoracic Surgeon to begin practice immediately. The department at present consists of 5.5 (FTE) general surgeons, 1 thoracic and 3 vascular surgeons. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in New Brunswick and hold subspecialty certification in Thoracic Surgery. Applicants will be expected to participate in the call schedule and teaching of residents. We are NCIC affiliated and opportunities exist for research. The hospital has two state of the art MIS suites as well as a new outpatient complex including an up-to-date GI/endoscopy suite, clinics and minor OR suites.
The Hospital is a 400-bed tertiary and critical care facility and a major referral hospital which serves communities throughout New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. It is a Level II Trauma Centre which offers tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties.
The Hospital offers excellent opportunities for teaching and clinical research and has academic affiliation with Dalhousie University medical school. The hospital is staffed by more 3,000 employees, volunteers and physicians.
Remuneration will be a daily salaried rate and/or fee for services billings submitted directly to New Brunswick Medicare or a combination thereof, depending on specialty, qualifications and licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.

There is an abundance of educational, cultural and recreational opportunities including easy access to warm water beaches of the Northumberland Strait, and also the scenic Bay of Fundy area.
The Department of Surgery requires that their members have passed the examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in their specialty in order to be eligible for active membership.
However, fully certified specialists from the UK, Ireland, USA, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand may be considered.
In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada.
Remuneration: A salaried model of remuneration, Fee for Service or an Alternate Payment Plan can be negotiated providing minimum annual income and benefits equivalent or greater than $350,000 per year.
