This is a level C Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of Ottawa serving a local catchment area of 55,000 with a 100,000 referral area.
The mental health programmme includes inpatient and outpatient services. This includes an Acute Mental Health Unit of 15 beds, an Outpatient Clinic, Community Mental Health Case Management, the Assertive Community Treatment Team, the Crisis Team, Court Diversion Services, Social Work Services, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. There is strong continuum of care with increasing emphasis on outpatient programmes.
There are currently two full-time members in the department of Psychiatry. Due to increased demand, the hospital is actively lookiong to expand their Psychiatric services by adding two more full-time Psychiatrists who would be involved in both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as sharing in the on-call. The on-call coverage would be 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.
While the requirement is for General Adult Psychiatrists, preference will be given to individuals with interest in outpatient psychotheray, Geriatric Psychiatry, outpatient Child Psychiatry or Electroconvulsive Therapy. There is the potential to have a robust, full-time, rewarding career.
Remuneration is fee-for-service plus some sessional allocation and Hospital On Call Coverage (HOCC). In addition, this position may qualify for rural incentives.
Qualifications: Eligible candidates must who hold or be eligible for a full independent license in Ontario.
