Health PEI is seeking a Medical Oncologist or Hematologist to join a small multidisciplinary oncology team. While either specialty will be considered, some degree of cross coverage is required. Therefore, broader interests and experience would be an asset. Treating benign hematology diseases is optional.
The PEI Cancer Treatment Centre is a compact, modern medical and radiation oncology facility attached to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. Medical oncology services are provided at a satellite centre in Summerside.
Physicians have the option of choosing a salary or fee-for-service payment modality. Information related to payment modalities, including salary; fee-for-service tariff of fees; blended payments (shadow billings); on-call payments; and benefits including paid vacation entitlements, CME funding, RRSP program, etc.
Hours of Work:
8:00 am - 4:00 pm for 37.5 hours per week.
Manage and provide specialist medical care to oncology patients in clinic and hospital.
Participation in on-call services as outlined by the Division of Medical Oncology.
Provide referral services for family physicians in the province in Medical Oncology.
Return-in-Service Grant and eligible moving expense reimbursements are available.
Teaching medical students and residents is an option, and appointments with Dalhousie University and Memorial University medical schools are available.
PEI has province-wide electronic health record giving access to lab reports, radiology reports and images, and physician notes.
The successful candidate must have certification by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent training.
Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of PEI.
Exemplary USA, UK, Irish, Australian, New Zealand, Swiss, Hong Kong, South Africa or Singapore candidates, with full specialty certification will also be considered.
