CanAm's client, a major Atlantic Canada tertiary care referral hospital is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for a position as a Cardiac Electrophysiologist in the Division of Cardiology, at the provincial Heart Center, located at the Hospital.
Opportunities exist for academic cross appointment at Dalhousie Medicine and Memorial University. The Division of Cardiology is an integral part of the Department of Medicine and provides secondary and tertiary cardiac care services for the province of New Brunswick.
Focused on patient and family-centred care, the Health Network operates 12 hospitals and more than 100 medical facilities, clinics and offices, and provides services ranging from acute care to community-based health services.
With a collaborative, team approach to offering services in English and French, Horizon leads the way in delivering sustainable, safe and quality health care services to residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.
The successful applicant will join another electrophysiologist, in a well-established program performing complex device implantations as well as AF and VT ablations.
Currently the program has 2.5 days of weekly cath lab time, with imminent construction of an additional dedicated electrophysiology suite. There is excellent support from six clinical cardiologists and six interventional cardiologists within the Division of Cardiology, which is the sole percutaneous mitral valvuloplasty center for the Atlantic Provinces.
Division members have excellent opportunities for educational and research endeavors in addition to their clinical responsibilities.
An attractive remuneration and benefits package will apply.
Preferred candidates should hold FRCPC certification (or equivalent) in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Cardiology, and an additional fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology undertaken in a recognized Electrophysiology training center. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced skills in cardiac electrophysiologic device management and implantation as well as complex ablation skills. The successful candidates should have a track record and demonstrated ability to work in a team and shared care model, which involves clinical work, research and education.
Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, however Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
